FRENCH RESISTANCE MOVEMENT

Agenda Item:

OPEN AGENDA

During World War II, the French Resistance emerged as a crucial force opposing Nazi occupation and the Vichy regime.
Resistance fighters were crucial in upending German authority and supporting the Allied war effort through the use of intelligence gathering, sabotage operations, and underground networks. In the face of intense internal strife and repression, they engaged in everything from guerrilla warfare to collaborating with outside forces. As they navigate the difficulties of an occupied France in this edition of ACALMUN, delegates will assume the roles of important resistance leaders, political figures, and military strategists. The movement's main leader, Charles de Gaulle, rallied support for Free France by urging exiles to continue their resistance. Delegates must decide how to coordinate operations, manage relations with the Allies, and counter both Nazi forces and the Vichy government. Their decisions will determine France's future as the conflict goes on.

HCC: SCRAMBLE FOR AFRICA

Agenda Item:

OPEN AGENDA

Hcc

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, European powers engaged in the systematic colonization and division of Africa, driven by economic interests, political rivalries, and the pursuit of territorial expansion. This period saw the exploitation of resources, forced labor, and the imposition of foreign rule, reshaping the continent’s political and social structures.
In this installment of ACALMUN, as delegates represent key historical figures and nations, they will be expected to negotiate territorial claims, manage diplomatic tensions, and respond to emerging conflicts. While engaging with the historical context, delegates must also consider the long-term implications of their actions, weighing economic, political, and ethical factors in their decision-making.
